Embarking on my ancestry adventure through the Gutierrez line feels like opening a treasure chest brimming with history, connection, and mystery. It all began during a deeply emotional time in my life, shortly after my sister passed away. One evening, a kind woman knocked on my door, offering to pray with me. She explained that a neighbor had informed her about my loss. The next morning, after we had prayed together, I woke up to the sound of a voice calling my name. Was it God reaching out to me, or was my mind simply searching for solace? To this day, I’m still unsure.
Just a week later, we sat together in her tranquil courtyard. This remarkable woman handed me her book, God Positioning Spirit, a powerful testament to her journey of faith. As I immersed myself in its pages, I was captivated by her insights—how God had guided her, shaped her life, and instilled in her a wisdom that often felt extraordinary. She is a genuine soul, overflowing with kindness and deeply connected to God. Her devotion fuels her calling to help others, reflecting her unwavering commitment to fulfilling His purpose.
My curiosity about her story blossomed as I delved deeper into her book. What truly amazed me was her ability to chronicle not just her life, but also the lives of her ancestors. Through this legacy, she preserved a wealth of family histories, capturing the essence of her grandparents’ and parents’ lives. As a genealogist, I couldn’t resist diving headfirst into this treasure trove. I traced her family lines, piecing together what had been passed down through generations. What unfolded before me was nothing short of miraculous—the Spirit of the Lord weaving its way through each generation, coming alive within Deanna Brown, her children, and their descendants.
This journey inspired me to take a bold step. I hired Deanna as my transformational coach—a decision that has truly been life-altering.
Interestingly, Deanna herself had limited knowledge of her grandparents’ lives before her birth, aside from their origins in a specific region in Mexico. This revelation sparked an exciting idea for me: to blog regularly about her ancestors, uncovering their stories and sharing their legacies with the world.
This year, my focus will be on exploring the rich histories of individuals whose ancestors hail from Jalisco, Mexico. From there, my research will expand to other parts of the globe. So far, I’ve discovered that this vibrant community primarily settled in the border states of California, Texas, and Arizona, with occasional journeys to other states. The adventure ahead is boundless, and I can’t wait to write about the stories waiting to be told!
